The first thing to point is that from 6th April 2016 there is one universal fee of £680 for bankruptcy applications and the former ‘Court Fee Remissions’ for the unemployed / pensioners no longer apply.
It is often the case that utility companies have trust funds set up to assist those in need and in particular, the water / utility companies. Severn Trent has a Trust Fund for this purpose, but you should approach your own supplier. EDF also offers help, as does British Gas, the British Legion and various Trade Unions.
